FPT Semiconductor, a subsidiary of FPT Corporation, is gearing up for collaboration with Korean enterprises to capitalize on the 'Semiconductor Wave' in Vietnam. At the Vietnam-Korea Semiconductor Cooperation Conference in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Dang Hoa, Chairman of FPT IS and FPT Semiconductor, emphasized the promising prospects within Vietnam's semiconductor industry. FPT believes that Vietnam is poised to become a key player in the semiconductor supply chain, benefiting from support under the U.S. CHIPS Act for manufacturing development and workforce training.
With over a decade of experience in the semiconductor field, FPT has made significant strides, establishing FPT Semiconductor in 2022 and securing orders for 70 million chips from clients across various countries and regions, including Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore, and Japan. FPT Semiconductor has strategically identified niches that align with Vietnam's strengths and capabilities. These include the development of power chip products using low-demand technology essential for IoT devices, customization of chips to meet customer requirements, provision of IP libraries, and entry into the OSAT chain for chip testing.
Looking ahead, FPT Semiconductor is exploring opportunities for collaboration with Korean enterprises to further enhance its market presence and technological offerings. By leveraging the talent pool of young Vietnamese engineers trained within the FPT ecosystem, the company aims to drive innovation and establish itself as a leading player in the global semiconductor landscape.
The Vietnam-Korea Semiconductor Cooperation Conference highlighted the importance of fostering partnerships and knowledge exchange between the two countries to accelerate growth and innovation in the semiconductor industry. As Vietnam continues to gain recognition as a hub for semiconductor manufacturing and development, collaborations with international counterparts like South Korea are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the industry.
